WorkPac ordered to match site rates under first SJSP order

WorkPac will be required to pay hundreds of employees up to $20k more per year, under the Fair Work Commission's first regulated labour hire arrangement order.

The order, issued late yesterday, will cover WorkPac's on-hire employees at the Batchfire Callide Management open-cut coal mine in Biloela, Queensland. WorkPac currently supplies about 324 production workers to the mine.

According to the MEU, which brought the application under the Fair Work Act's new 'same job, same pay' (SJSP) laws, WorkPac employees at the mine generally receive between $10k–20k less per year than Batchfire's direct employees...
